New setback for Camp Nou reopening while the city council rejects 60000 spectators for the Barcelona match on 14 September

The proposed reopening for the renewed Camp Nou Stadium received a new setback after his request for 60000 spectators for the first home game in La Liga against Valencia on 14 September was rejected.

The club has now submitted a different request to the city council to grant the first phase license by allowing 30000 spectators for the Valencia and Getafe competitions on 14 and 21 September respectively. In this phase, only the stands and one end of the stadium would be open.

For the second phase, it is planning to open the stadium for 45,000 spectators for the next set of LA Liga matches and Champions League matches before they open to 60000 fans as originally planned.

Barca announced last month that the Joan Gamper Trophy match against Como Sunday was moved from the Camp Nou to Estadi Joan Cruyff due to construction delays.

The stadium undergoes renovation to increase its capacity to 105,000, making it the largest stadium in terms of seating capacity in both Spain and in Europe.
