Newcastle United has signed former Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale from Southampton on a season loan, said the Premier League club on Saturday.
The 27-year-old goalkeeper of England, who made the second most savings in the competition last season at 125, worked with Newcastle manager Eddie Howe during his enchantment in Bournemouth.
«Aaron is an exceptional keeper … After I have worked with him before, I know what he can bring us to and next to the field, so we look forward to welcome him in the group,» said Howe.
Newcastle, which finished fifth last season to secure a berth of the Champions League, starts his Premier League campaign with a visit to Aston Villa on August 16.

Ramsdale came to Southampton from Arsenal last year on a deal that is valid until June 2028.
He joined Arsenal van Sheffield United in 2021 and spent two seasons as the first choice, so that they were helped in a 2022-23 second place in the Premier League, before he lost his starting place to David Raya the following year.
After securing promotion, Southampton immediately returned last season and Ramsdale suffered his third relegation from the top flight after previous drops with Bournemouth in 2019-2020 and Sheffield United in 2020-21.
