Newcastle rejects Liverpool bid on Isak – reports


Newcastle has rejected Liverpool’s opening bid to sign restless Sweden striker Alexander Isak, according to reports on Friday.

Isak trained this week in his old club Real Sociedad after reporting Newcastle that he wants to leave St James’ Park.

The 25-year-old has been affiliated with Liverpool since the end of last season and the Premier League champion is now supposed to have formalized his interest with an offer of around £ 110 million ($ 159 million) plus potential add-ons.

But Newcastle, who is reportedly appreciates Isak at £ 150 million, likes to stick to its priceactive and has rejected Liverpool’s first bid.

Isak, who came to Newcastle in 2022 in a relocation of £ 60 million from Real Sociedad, scored 23 Premier League goals last season to help Newcastle to qualify for the Champions League.

He has left for three years on his Newcastle contract, but did not travel to Asia for the current tour of the Magpies, the club said he had a small thigh injury.

On Thursday, Real Sociedad confirmed that he was in the facility of Zubieta with his own trainers.

On Friday it was reported that Newcastle was told Isak that he could agree with a new deal with a get-out clause for next year, but he replied by insisting that he wants to move now.

Liverpool -Manager Arne Slot has already strengthened his attacking options by signing Eintracht Frankfurt -Spits Hugo Ekitike and Bayer Leverkusen -Play maker Florian Wirtz during the current transfer window.

But the Reds want to make their forward line even more formidable by adding Isak while they want to win back -to Back English titles for the first time since the 1980s.

Newcastle -Baas Eddie Howe broke a challenging note earlier this week when he said: «He is still our player. He is contracted to us.

“We have checked to a certain extent what the next one is for him. I would like to believe that all options are still available to us.

«My wish is that he stays, but that is not in my complete control.»

So far, Liverpool has spent more than £ 250 million in the summer window, with Milos Kerkez, Jeremie Frimpong and Giorgi Mhaldashvili who join Anfield at Wirtz and Ekitike.
