Once upon a time in Rocksylvania

Hikers are warned about the difficulty of walking in Rocksylvania. I have rheumatoid arthritis, so I knew this was the test field to finish my walk. It was difficult, but the tenderness of my hiking partner, Bill, allowed me to take advantage of my strength.

Penetrating pointed rocks

I am creative, and when I feel overwhelmed singing or invented a story. The first time that Rocksylvania’s rocks were next to you and too close to turn it around, I told Bill this story.

The princess and the magician

«Once upon a time, there was a princess who had been called to defend her people. It was weak, but willing. To prepare it, a wise wizard came and woke up the hillside of the mountain breaking the rocks into small pieces. This would become her training terrain. When training in this field, she would develop the muscles she needed to defend against her people. He would also become her daily practice.

The princess directed this range every day until she was strong and able to defend her people from the attack on any front! The rocks were a test, and she spent great success. When the time came, the princess correctly protected her people!

Sand and strength

I have told that story several times when explaining Rocksylvania to friends and family. History summarizes it. Hard rocks make you stronger and stronger.

My feet, on the other hand, were torn. When I left Pennsylvania, my feet, ankles, knees and hips had pain. Nothing I had done before I was working to take my pain, not rest, not stretch, not medicine. He had two options: stop passing the pain.

My dad always told me: the renuncants never win and the winners never give up. Thanks Dad!

New Jersey views

New Jersey was a great respite. We had the magic of the path unexpectedly three times. The last one was a former through Hiker who told me to continue because it would soon be easier. That gave me hope. Hope is one of the best gifts to give someone.

One of my biggest challenges in Rocksylvania was the lack of views. I had not realized how much inspiration and motivation were giving me the beautiful views. It didn’t matter if it was a waterfall cascade or a show of a mountain range. But in Rocksylvania, the only opinion I was getting was my feet.

The views in New Jersey were frequent. He started with a beautiful Casado stream when we entered New Jersey. Immediately after we saw our first bears, a mother and your puppy. Every day we have beautiful viewpoints and sightings of bears. I also met my first castor, and I love to see his lodges in the middle of a lake or swamp.

New Jersey Script post

My only advice for New Jersey is to bring all the errors protection it possesses. The beautiful bodies of water brought us bugs in abundance.

Bill’s tenderness towards my struggles through Pennsylvania helped me. He took my backpack and took her when I couldn’t take the crazy climb of Lehight Gap. I could have used a reinforcement ladder there! When I broke in the tears, my strengths reminded me. It also made me rest. I am a pusher and I do not take enough breaks. But I am learning that rest is part of the walk.

We have only taken close since May 13 in Daleville, just after my fall. We finally decided that it was time to take a zero. Bill is right. The rest is good!
