Preparing for the PCT has required a complete removal from my comfortable life in Bend, Oregon. The mission schedule is tight, the logistics are questionable, and the margin for error is… basically non-existent.
My mission, if I decide to accept it, requires completing the following objectives:
Mission 1: Deploy critical feline assets
I got my two sweet babies safely to Tucson, where my mom will take temporary command while I’m on the road.
Mission 2: Survive academic operations
Complete all remaining class assignments and survive the final exams. Failure is not an option.
Mission 3: Execute apartment evacuation
Pack up my entire apartment and place every earthly possession in a storage unit like a very chaotic game of Tetris.
Mission 4: Strategic escape to the south
Hand over the keys to the apartment. Begin vehicle transport southbound to Tucson, allowing for several unplanned side missions along the way.
Mission 5: Field Test Protocol
Perform a final equipment inspection and complete an overnight hike to ensure all systems are ready for the trail.
Mission 6: Final Extraction at the Trailhead
Safe transportation for parents to Campo.
From there the real operation begins:
A backpack.
2,650 miles of trail.
Five months of dirt, mountains and whatever chaos nature decides to throw my way hio45gd.
The mission:
Walk to Canada.
Status: locked and loaded
The next broadcast will come from the trail.
THIS MESSAGE WILL SELF-DESTRUCT IN FIVE SECONDS.
