Honestly, even with the cars spending last night, it did not bother me at all. However, it makes sense, how many people are going to drive at night? When my alarm shot, I felt renewed … enough.
I know that boxes are a popular place for some hikers to camp. After all, a bear can’t enter, and if it is blocked, people will probably even think about it. But … I think it’s a line that I can’t cross. The boxes bath was nice, I even had atmosphere to make the place smell good! But still. EW. I think it is much more popular for CDT and PCT hikers to do it, since outdoor baths are a rarity in the west.
When I got up, I saw some shakes crossing the bridge. I took some time to filter the water of the beautiful river … and noticed that my filter was dripping. Uh oh. The washing machine in my sawmill fell at some point, and I lost myself completely. Because it was in a huge river, the washing machine left forever, to never see again. Fortunately, I had a second washing machine available in the «drink cover» of the filter, so I ended up transferring it. Maybe drip in the lid, of course, but the most important part is not to contaminate my bottles clean with dirty water.

Today’s hiking profile was a great climb, and then a soft descent essentially squared one. The climb … It was brutal. A kind of fog was put above all, making everything as humid as normal. I quickly passed through the terrifying ones and stopped at the shelter of Melville Nauheim who was supposed to publish only to check it. Typical LT refuge.

To start the day, I was dragging. I really don’t know what has changed since May, but I feel that I have not been able to capture a good hiking speed from Virginia. But, today, I decided to start walking with a deliberate attempt to establish a good rhythm again. After the morning, that’s. And what I found was … yes, I can maintain a pretty good pace whenever I am actively focusing on it. In fact, he felt a little better than normal. It meant that it could spend less time standing, due to the same amount of wear. Sometimes even less, when the hills went down quickly. While it feels like more energy to start running through a hill … usually, I find that it is better for my body if I absorb it and put the energy to run through that hill.

When I arrived at the Goddard shelter, I really felt very good with my rhythm. Although I was still behind where I wanted to be, that was with three hours of Dilly Dallying in the morning. I spent a time talking more with more through excursions and advanced.

The mistakes were a little less bad today, but unfortunately, I began to develop some kind of contact eruption along my low back, where my package touched my waist. It was not terrible, but it was definitely not comfortable. Oh.

In a moment, I felt a little silly and tried to place my soak jug in my range. Well for speed?

In the Kid Gore shelter, I realized sudden … I was left without food. Ok, no outside Outside the food, but I had much less than I really wanted to go out at night and one day about Stratton Mountain. I really think what happened was that I left the refueling practice. Throughout the middle Atlantic and the beginning of New England, there was fresh food everywhere! New Jersey restaurants, the Delicatessen from New York, Kent and Salisbury de Connecticut, and then the frequency of which I also left Massachussetts. I guess I simply did not plan in advance … uh oh.
Given how good my rhythm was, I made a game time to enter the evil Waystation shelter. And he began to reserve it. They stop trucks around 6, and could barely reach a road cross at 6.

Fortunately, apart from a huge Castor’s pond, there was not much to do. I stopped at Story Spring Shelter, I met some members of the ATC in a mission of point of view, and ran to USFS 71 for my truck. That last mile flew in 7 minutes! Call me Tara Dower at that pace.

Thais picked me up and headed to his shelter. It was an easy trip, and I met its beautiful dog shoes. She let me clean, and then I took a … tricycle to the county store for refueling. I know it was just a five -minute walk, but I’m not going to walk any mile that I don’t have to do it. Getting used to a tricycle was really super difficult! On a bicycle, all you have to do is balance. But in the tricycle, changing your weight does nothing. So, I had to remember turning the handlebar for everything.

He grabbed some snacks, and then enjoyed a little mac ‘n cheese, and met Spider Man, who made Ga -> Bennington in 2016 and was here to finish the path. It was a bit interesting to see how I knew a lot about the path, but not much either. Actually, I had never been far away, and I was only convinced when he saw me playing. Talking with him was almost like a small time capsule in how the path used to be.
It is good to tie the food again. I can’t wait for another city tomorrow.
