Packages from Santa Fe to Taos 2026

Iterations of «comfort».

Webster awkwardly defines comfort as: » state of tranquility and physical freedom.»

No all hikers need Do they console and talk incessantly about their team? Don’t the majority long for it?

Eja packed for a recent expedition

With the spy backpacks hanging, each with a story, it was time to look for more comfort for my trip from Santa Fe to Taos in 2026.

I swapped the contents of the Mariposa 60L with my Eja XS-60L Pro. If my Eja XS Pro – 60L accommodated all my gear and was more comfortable, I was going to use it.

The Eja Pro seems useful. The «Pros» have an internal frame and belt pockets. The “brain”, or upper part, is removable, has smaller straps, buckles and adjustments.

There has been a bewildering variety of “women-specific” packages. I have been a fool to most. Throwing away many that didn’t fit, or manipulating very necessary things.

Now that everything is online, it’s really difficult, if not impossible, to get a good fit.

And what does size small-medium or medium-large mean? Come on! Expensive and No standards?

My Gregory Deva 50L fits better.

The Deva was fit for me, after extensive measurements, in person (remember those days?) by our local outdoor specialists. This was years ago. They took the time to not only get me a good fit, but also to carry me and get me walking. They cared.

However, that Deva is too small in volume to meet my needs and the newer, larger volume doesn’t fit well.
