Palace appeals to Cas against the relegation of the Europa League

Premier League club Crystal Palace has appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport against UEFA’s decision to remove it from the Europa League due to alleged infringements on regulations with multiple club property, the CAS said Tuesday.

Palace was relegated to the Conference League, the third European competition, by UEFA’s Club Financial Control Body (CFCB) this month because John Textor, president of the Eagle Football Group, majority owners of Olympique Lyonnais, also has a controlling interest in Palace.

Ligue 1 Club Lyon, who also qualified for the Second-Tier continental competition, were allowed to compete.

«This (profession) will be an accelerated procedure with an operative decision (without land) that must be displayed on or before 11 August 2025,» Cas said in a statement.

Palace said last month that co-owner of New York Jets Robert Wood «Woody» Johnson had signed a legally binding agreement to buy the importance of Eagle Football Holding in the club, subject to approval from the Premier League.

Palace, however, missed the Deadline of March to comply with the rules for multiple club ownership before he won the FA Cup in May to earn their place in the European competition.

Nottingham Forest, which finished seventh in the Premier League, will replace Palace in the Europa League if the profession fails.
