Day 17
Home: Tentsite, Mile 241.5
END: Snoqualmie Pass, Mile 259.5
Walked miles: 18 miles
Today was a city day but also a full day of hiking. I was excited by the hot food and the warm bed that awaited me, but I had to do a job to get there.
As the sun risen, it shone directly in my camp, without providing a way to escape the day. Even so, while I embarked on my first climb of the day, the air had not yet warm up. I moved along the curves, back and forth, through the cold air as the morning rays appeared and disappeared through the tree branches. The path was calm today; When I got to the top of my climbing, I had not yet seen another hiker.
In the upper part, I was rewarded with an impressive view of Lake Spectacle, a lake located between mountain walls that looked like the perfect swimming place. I could distinguish an orange tent perched on the peninsula that goes up to the lake. While the clouds hugged the distant mountains, I could not help being grateful to have such a peaceful moment in this place.
I continued, still enjoying the tranquility of the morning, until I met another hiker. His name was Snake and he was walking on Novo. Until now, he had taken 95 days to reach this place and only one more week until Canada. Talk about a fast hiker!
Soon the path became rock, medium -sized rocks that were not the easiest to walk. I had to maintain my balance and see my balance while the rocks were unequal. Along the way, I found more hikers from the Nobo section and enjoyed the cold air that passed through these mountain peaks.
Under me, the lakes and valleys called invitedly, but I had to keep myself high. For lunch, I found a suction cup that kept most of the mosquitoes. In front of me and behind me, the sharp peaks were in all directions. It was one of my best places for lunch so far.
Even so, however, I was a bit ready to enter the city. I enjoyed the fresh -looking Kendall catwalk, where I could look down at least 1000 feet on each side of the narrow strip of the path. Then it was down, down, down for 6 miles. I thought it would never end, but finally I found a road and a snack pass. I had done it!
I registered in the Summit Inn and admired its box of hikers absolutely Ginmous (table?), Before continuing with the tasks of the city: food, laundry, shower. So it was time to relax!
And that is a day in the life of a PCT Sobo hiker!
