PCT SOBO DAY 57 – PIZZA!

Day 57

Home: TENTSITE, MILLA 1047.0

END: ETNA Summit Trailhead, Mile 1054.6

Walked miles: 7.6 miles

As usual, I woke up with dawn, ate my granola breakfast and essential elements of breakfast, then I packed my things and came out. The best thing was that it was a city day! I only had a little more than seven miles before reaching hot food and a refreshing shower. However, I had enough food. It only had 2 peanut butter packages, 2 fruit skins, a hot chocolate pack and a granola bar. Some might say that this was perfect planning, but I like that I have a little more. Still, I was ready to eat!

The first miles of my walk were pleasantly shaded with the sun with the mountain in the morning. I walked through the contour of the mountain on a soft and soft path, still moving through the burned forest. When the sun came out, I put on my visor and sunglasses, fearing the next heat. I kept quite high on the crest, so while he was heated a little, there was a bit of breeze to keep me cool.

While walking, I could feel my hunger. I ate a peanut butter pack and my fruit skins, which were enough to take me to the beginning of the path. Just when I approached the road, I saw a Nobo walking towards me. And just behind her, I saw a car that came out in the direction of Etna. Curse, a lost hitch opportunity.

I sat next to the way with my umbrella, since there were no trees to shade the heat of the sun. The road was calm and a few cars passed in the opposite direction. After 30 minutes, the first car that went to Etna passed. I put my thumb and greeted, but they passed me. After another 20 minutes, the same happened again. However, I didn’t have to wait too long until a transport driver who came to pick up another hiker stopped and parked. I paid my rate and joined the trip!

Before realizing, I was in the city. After my motel room stacked, my next business order was lunch! First stop: Denny’s Distillery for a pizza! I was impressed how good this pizza was in such a small and unpretentious city. This establishment could have been in a small promising city. It was of high quality.

While ate, I contemplated the dilemma of my package. I could take a zero here in Etna and wait on Monday to get my packages or could return to the path tomorrow. I had no idea which one was better, so I decided to sleep and make a decision in the morning.

Back in the motel, I finally shower and rest a little. Later, I went out to do homework before returning to the room and doing absolutely nothing. It was a perfect ending for my day.

And that is a day in the life of a PCT Sobo hiker!
