Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner insisted he retains the support of the Premier League club after supporters unfurled a banner calling for his sack during Sunday’s dramatic 1-0 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Palace won after Evann Guessand scored in the 90th minute against 10-man Wolves, moving them up to 13th in the table.
During the match, a protest banner at Selhurst Park read: «Missed opportunities – sign incompetent. Fans disrespectful – Glasner is done.» But the Austrian coach revealed he had received reassurances from Palace’s hierarchy over his position.
«I spoke to the board, to the chairman (Steve Parish), to the sporting director (Matt Hobbs) and they said, ‘No, we think you’re the right one,'» Glasner told the BBC.
«For me it is important that they (fans) support the team, and they did that until the end. Of course, like all of us, the fans are disappointed with some results and some parts of the game – that is normal.»
‘STAY HUMBLE’
The fans’ backlash against Glasner stemmed from his comments earlier this week when he urged them to «remain humble» after they called for his dismissal following a 1-1 draw with Zrinjski Mostar in the Conference League play-offs.
He suggested the critics had lost perspective after leading Palace to the FA Cup last year, the club’s first major trophy in 120 years.
«We had the best two years in the history of Crystal Palace, and then it’s not that easy for a club to say, ‘Hey, it’s better that you leave,'» he added.

Glasner, 51, said last month he would leave Palace after his contract expires this season and clarified his position amid speculation about his future.
“I don’t know if the club has another idea, I don’t want to stand in the way and then we will find a solution,” he said.
“I didn’t say I’ll step back, I’ll resign (or) anything, so maybe it’s clearer now.”
‘OLIVER GLASNER IS NOT IMPORTANT’
When asked if he wanted to stay until the end of the season, Glasner said: «Oliver Glasner is not important. Crystal Palace is important.»
«If the club thought they needed a change then I don’t want to stand in the way. That’s what I meant.»
Glasner revealed that he had also spoken to his players about his future, stressing the importance of their support.
“It’s not like I have to live in London because otherwise I don’t know what to do,” he said.
“No, the most important thing is Crystal Palace, and I am here 100% to be successful for Crystal Palace.
«I need the players… It’s important that the players believe in what we tell them, me and the staff.»
