Liverpool boss Arne Slot was again left to rue his side dropping points to late goals after a frantic 2-2 draw against Fulham thanks to Harrison Reed’s latest miracle strike.
Cody Gakpo thought he had taken all three points for Liverpool in the 94th minute, but the Dutch forward had barely settled on the substitutes’ bench when Reed found the top corner with a stunning goal to put things right.
Slot said that under normal circumstances most people would expect Liverpool to close out the game after taking the lead so late.
But after conceding late winners at Crystal Palace and Chelsea in back-to-back league games in October and an extra equalizer at Leeds United last month, Slot said it was now less of a shock to him.
“I think if you are not part of Liverpool and don’t follow us every game, you think you win the game (with Gakpo’s goal),” he told reporters. “But unfortunately I have been experiencing this for months.

“The first chance the other team gets – and the only chance they got in the first half – led to a goal. And that’s something we usually see with us.
“And the second thing we often see is the other team scoring a goal that you don’t expect in extra time.”
Liverpool were without top scorer Hugo Ekitike, who Slot said had traveled to London with the squad but was deemed unfit to play after receiving the results of an MRI scan and signing Alexander Isak.
Gakpo started as a striker and scored what could have been the winner after also having the ball in the net on offside shortly after half-time, although he looked unconvincing, and Liverpool were considerably less threatening in Ekitike’s absence.
Slot will have few sympathizers as he spent lavishly on new signings in the summer, but said his side created as many chances as could be expected given their lack of attacking options.
“I would like to create more, but when you play with the number of midfielders we play with, with one striker against Fulham’s 5-4-1 in an away game, I don’t know if you can expect us to create chance after chance,” Slot said.
“But overall I think we created enough chances to win the game and we did a really good job of limiting them to maybe one, one and a half chances.”
