Premier League 2025-26: Antonio leaves West Ham after contract not renewed

Jamaica striker Mikhail Antonio left West Ham United after his contract was not renewed at the end of last season, the Premier League club announced Thursday.

The 35-year-old was involved in a serious traffic accident in December when his car hit a tree on the way home of the training, his thigh in four places breaking, and he did not play again for West Ham.

Antonio came to the London Club from Nottingham Forest in 2015 and scored 323 performances, scored 83 goals to become West Ham’s top scorer of all time in the Premier League.

«Mikhail will always be a beloved and respected member of the West Ham United family. As has been the case since December, the club will continue to support him and help him with its continuous rehabilitation and offer him access to training, facilities and medical care if necessary,» said West Ham in a statement.

«Dialogue continues with his future involvement at the club in an alternative capacity – including one that would enable others to benefit from his experience and leadership qualities – and he will forever have a special place in our 130 -year -old history.»

Antonio helped West Ham to win the Europa Conference League in 2023 and ended with his 43-year-old waiting for large silverware.

Antonio made his competitive return to action in June as a replacement for Jamaica in a Concacaf Gold Cup match against Guatemala.

West Ham starts his Premier League campaign on August 16 against the newly promoted Sunderland.
