Chelsea defender Wesley Fofana believes ‘little details’ are behind the club’s frustrating habit of letting the lead slip after another 2-2 draw against Bournemouth at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday.
Enzo Maresca’s team has lost thirteen points at home this season due to victories and is on a run of one Premier League victory in seven games.
That run saw Chelsea drop out of the top four, with The Blues squandered several chances against the Cherries as they failed to capitalize on their dominance for the second game in a row after defeat to Aston Villa on December 27.
“It was a tough match,” Fofana said of the draw with Bournemouth. “We tried to give everything, but in the second half we didn’t break the game.
«We had a few chances (that) we didn’t score. We have to finish the game and we have to score. It’s not just about the front players, it’s about everyone.»
David Brooks put Bournemouth ahead after six minutes before Cole Palmer equalized from the penalty spot.
Enzo Fernandez’s shot into the top corner seemed to have put Chelsea on the way to a much-needed victory, but before half-time they conceded again, with Justin Kluivert tapping in unnoticed at the far post.

“We have to do better, we have to analyze and try to make progress,” Fofana said.
“When you concede two it’s frustrating… but we’re only in December and we have to make progress.”
Fofana added: “I think we are getting closer, we are just missing small details.
«It’s been a year of ups and downs. We got into the Champions League and won the Club World Cup, which was good.»
Andoni Iraola’s side have now gone 10 games without a win in the league and have fallen from second place in the table when they last won in October to 15th.
However, they have only been beaten once in their last five games, with optimistic midfielder Alex Scott saying: “We played a lot better and showed a lot more fight.
«It’s never easy coming to a place like Chelsea. The second half wasn’t great in terms of possession, but we defended really well and it was a huge improvement for us.»
“Scoring two set-piece goals is definitely positive for us.”
