Chelsea beat hosts Tottenham Hotspur 1-0 in the Premier League on Saturday, with Brazilian striker Joao Pedro claiming the only goal of the match as he got on the scoresheet for the first time since August.
Enzo Maresca’s men, haunted by last weekend’s home defeat to Sunderland, suppressed Spurs and created a series of chances that could have seen them win by a bigger margin.
The Blues took the lead when Moises Caicedo stole the ball from Micky van de Ven on the edge of the Spurs penalty area, and the impressive Ecuadorian squared up for Joao Pedro, who made no mistake from eight yards in the 34th minute.
The Brazilian had chances to add to his goal tally but was thwarted three times by Spurs goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario, who also denied Pedro Neto and Alejandro Garnacho, while his counterpart, Robert Sanchez, had just one save to make.

The home fans vented their frustration at Thomas Frank’s side as there was no real threat and loud boos rang out around the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium after the final whistle.
Chelsea climbed to fourth in the table with 17 points after ten games, one step below Spurs on goal difference.
Spurs have now recorded just one win against Chelsea in their last fourteen Premier League meetings, and the visiting supporters treated their hosts to chants of ‘Tottenham Hotspur, it’s happened again’ in the dying moments of the match.
