Tottenham Hotspur manager Thomas Frank said his side are desperate to win games after a run of seven games without a Premier League win left the team six points above the relegation zone, in contrast to its form in Europe.
Spurs have won three Champions League games in a row and have gone straight to the round of 16. This month, visitors Manchester City held a draw in the Premier League.
But Saturday’s 2-0 defeat to Manchester United dealt another blow to Tottenham’s English top-flight season pdf view.
«There is no doubt that we are desperate to win games, desperate. And my focus tomorrow is on Newcastle United, which is a great opportunity for us against a good team,» Frank told reporters on Monday.
“Can we go out there tomorrow and get three points… that’s the main focus.”

Asked to explain why he was so desperate to win, Frank later pointed out that Spurs won just seven of their 25 Premier League games this season.
«I might have worded it differently. But it should be that feeling when we haven’t won enough,» said the manager.
«The way I work: if you haven’t won enough, you do everything you can, you do a little more, you work a little harder. That’s the way to get out of a difficult moment.»
«Of course we haven’t won enough. You have to be desperate. If you’re not desperate you don’t understand the situation you’re in, in the sense that you haven’t won enough and you have to win football matches. That’s what we want for the fans, for the team, for the club.»
Injured Udogie is out for a month
Spurs suffered another setback after centre-back Cristian Romero was suspended for being sent off in the defeat to United, as defender Destiny Udogie, who was injured on Saturday, has been ruled out for around a month due to a hamstring injury.
“Unfortunately, Destiny has a hamstring injury and will be out for the next four to five weeks,” said Frank.
While captain Romero will begin his four-match suspension by missing the match against Newcastle, defender Djed Spence is back after missing almost two weeks with a calf injury, Frank added.
«So we need the fans en masse tomorrow to support the team,» said the Danish coach. “When you are down to the wire, with not many players, and not that easy, then you have to work together.”
