Liverpool veteran Andy Robertson said on Thursday he is open to talks with the Anfield hierarchy over the issue of a new contract that will keep him at the reigning Premier League champions.
The Scotland captain has lost his first-team place in the final months of his current contract with the signing of Milos Kerkez in a £40 million ($53.5 million) summer transfer window.
But 31-year-old left-back Robertson has still made 20 appearances so far this season.
«It’s a difficult question to answer. I still have five months to go and we have to look at the option of staying or whether there are options to leave,» said Robertson, who has won eight major trophies since joining the Reds in 2017.
«I have to look at what me and my family want in the future. I have given absolutely everything for the club in the last eight and a half years and the club has been very good to me.»
«They rewarded me with good contracts when I played well. My relationship with the people higher up in the club has always been excellent since the day I came in.»

He added: “Signing me for £8m (from Hull) and then doing what I did helps – I remind people of that all the time!
“The relationship is good and it’s not all ‘what should they show me and what should I show them’ as we have shown each other more than enough respect over the last eight and a half years and we will see what comes next.”
Robertson could have moved to Atletico Madrid after helping Liverpool to a second Premier League title in five years, but was left with the knowledge that 22-year-old Kerkez could take his place.
But Robertson insisted his desire for first-team action remained unchanged.
“I think Jurgen Klopp left me out of one game and I was furious, so I’m a player who wants to play,” said Robertson, who could be back on the bench for Saturday’s visit of Burnley.
“I’ve played through injuries, I’ve played when I was only 50, 40, 30 percent fit for this club and my country.
«I have a different role here this season that I enjoy, but ultimately footballers want to play. And if someone is happy on the bench, then he does not belong at any football club.»
