Premier League: Everton eases to dominant home win over Fulham, West Ham records comeback win

Idrissa Gueye and Michael Keane scored as Everton claimed a deserved 2-0 Premier League victory over Fulham on Saturday in a match in which they had the ball in the net five times.

Everton climbed 11th in the table with 15 points from 11 games, while Fulham remained 15th with 11 points from the same number of games.

Everton came into their own for their victory, having three goals disallowed for offside as the ability to finish chances that had largely eluded them for much of this season returned.

Fulham have lost four of their last five Premier League games and sit a point above the relegation zone without ever seriously threatening the Everton goal in what will be another worrying display for manager Marco Silva.

Everton had the ball in the net three times in the first half, but only one counted.

EVE vs. VOLJUST AS IT HAPPENED

Thierno Barry, who produced his best performance in an Everton shirt, and James Tarkowski both had an effort disallowed for offside before third time lucky when Gueye’s effort stood in the fourth minute of extra time before half-time.

Tarkowski’s header from Jack Grealish’s cross hit the crossbar and Tim Iroegbunam’s scuffed shot from the rebound fell for Gueye to smash the ball into the net.

Everton’s Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall also had a goal disallowed for offside early in the second period before Fulham began to push their way into the match.

Rodrigo Muniz came off the bench after 58 minutes and left after 75 minutes after feeling unwell, but forced a good low stop from Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford.

Everton’s second goal finally came on 81 minutes when Michael Keane looped the ball into the net off his shoulder from the Dewsbury-Hall corner to secure the points for the hosts.

West Ham beat Burnley 3-2

West Ham United substitutes Tomas Soucek and Kyle Walker-Peters scored second-half goals as their side came from behind to beat Burnley 3-2 at home in a pulsating Premier League clash between the two struggling sides on Saturday.

The win moves West Ham level on points with Burnley on 10 points after 11 games and leaves them one place behind their visitors in 18th due to inferior goal difference, despite recording their second league win in six days.

Burnley got off to a good start and deservedly took the lead in the 35th minute through Zian Fleming, but Callum Wilson leveled before half-time with a close-range header after Crysencio Summerville’s shot bounced into his path off Burnley defender Maxime Esteve.

WHU vs. BURJUST AS IT HAPPENED

Soucek came off the bench to put the ball into the net to put West Ham ahead in the 77th minute and Walker-Peters added a third in the 87th, and although Josh Cullen pulled a goal back deep into stoppage time, it proved too little too late as West Ham held on to win. (
