The wild striker of Newcastle United Alexander Isak will not be in the team on Monday when it organizes the Premier League champion Liverpool, said Baas Eddie Howe, who called the tense distance a «loss loss» situation.
Isak was the subject of a bid of 110 million pounds ($ 148.34 million) of Liverpool earlier this month, according to Media reports, and in a social media post on Tuesday, Newcastle accused of breaking promises.
Newcastle replied by saying that there had been no obligation to sell the 25-year-old, who is under contract until 2028.
«There has been no change,» Howe told reporters on Friday. «It’s a loss-loss situation. I don’t think we can come from this winning in every situation.»
If Isak is still under contract with Newcastle when the transfer window closes on 1 September, Howe said that he and the players would welcome him back in the team.
«I don’t doubt how the players will feel. They will feel the same as me. Alex is a fantastic player, he is a good person, a good character and a good boy,» said Howe. «If Alex wanted to come back to play for us, the players would welcome him. 100% I want to see him back in a shirt in Newcastle.»
Howe said that he did not see Isak, who does not train with the team this week, and adds that that conversation between the two otherwise has been normal.
«There are no problems there. Of course it is a difficult situation of both parties and it is far from ideal for both parties,» he said. «When we meet each other, we speak, but as I say, I didn’t see him this week while he later trains and detached from the group.»
When asked about the public statements of Isak and the club earlier this week, the manager said he would rather have «it doesn’t happen publicly».
«Everything is treated better behind closed doors, but in this situation the needs and in this situation must have spoken the club and rightly at that time,» he added.
Howe is convinced that the supporters of Newcastle ISAK could forgive if he returns to the team.
«The supporters will always respond to how a player plays and what he gives the team,» said Howe. «There are always two sides to every story.»
