Former international international Dominic Calvert-Lewin announced on Sunday that he will leave Everton to a free transfer after he has not agreed to a new contract with the cooles.
Calvert-Lewin, 28, said he was looking for a «new challenge» after a nine-year enchantment on Merseyside.
The former striker of Sheffield United was once the deputy of Harry Kane as an English number nine and scored four times in 11 performances. But his last admission to a team of England was as part of the team that reached the final of Euro 2020.
He leaves as the third highest goal scorer of Everton in the Premier League with 71 goals in 273 performances in all competitions.
His career, however, was destroyed by a number of long spells on the sidelines due to injuries.
«After nine remarkable years at this club, I made the incredibly difficult decision-making decision to start a new chapter in my career with my family,» said Calvert-Lewin in a message on Instagram.
“The choice to continue was not just about me – it was a decision that my family and I saw together for a long time.
«We believe that it is the right time to find a new challenge and to continue to grow, but that does not reduce the bond that I will always have with Everton.»
Manchester United, Newcastle and Chelsea are among the clubs that have previously been linked to a relocation for Calvert-Lewin.
