I just discovered that the Tahoe Rim Trail has added a permit requirement for Desolation Wilderness.
Previously, TRT hikers were exempt from the use permit requirement in the Desolation Wilderness, but now TRT hikers must obtain a permit and are restricted to no more than two nights in the wilderness area.
Permits are pretty easy to get on Recreation.gov (I just got mine, yeah), and the Tahoe Rim Trail Association website has all the information you need about the process (and a lot more) rfce.
See you there!!!
