PSG dominates Real Madrid, sets the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 final with Chelsea


Fabian Ruiz scored twice, Ousmane Dembele scored a goal and an assist and Paris Saint-Germain eliminated Real Madrid and Kylian Mbappe from the FIFA Club World Cup by sailing a 4-0 semi-final victory on Wednesday.

PSG built a 3-0 lead in 24 minutes, causing the heavily pro-Madrid crowd. Goncalo Ramos, who suppressed for Dembele early in the second half, added a goal for a good measure in the 87th minute.

Gianluigi Donnarumma parried an early shot from Mbappe and ended with two rescues, but otherwise the PSG defense would not have been cut on the way to his fifth clean sheet in six tournament matches.

On Wednesday, Mbappe’s first time marked PSG, for which he scored 256 goals for seven years before he came to Madrid a year ago. After he was as replacement for the past two games, Mbappe started in the front next to Gonzalo Garcia, but the score sheet was withheld.

Trent Alexander-Arnold was from Real Madrid’s team, reportedly due to a training injury.

The PSG attack did not waste time and forced Courtois to make two difficult saves during the first five minutes. But in the sixth, Dembele Raul Asencio of the ball in the middle of the box robbed, tapped the diving range of Courtois and set up Ruiz for a one-timer in the back of the net.

Dembele made Madrid again paid when he closed on Antonio Rudiger, who turned to a pass attempt in the defensive half. Dembele shot away and hit Courtois in the left under corner for a 2-0 lead less than nine minutes.

After Mbappe’s third shot of the day was blocked, PSG became a clinical counterattack. Achraf Hakimi jumped freely along the right-hand side on a giving-and-go with Dembele, and Hakimi’s Kruis set Ruiz’s second goal in the 24th minute.

Paris Saint-Germain will be confronted with Chelsea in the final on Sunday. Chelsea won the title in 2021, while PSG will try to be the first team from France to conquer the trophy.
