Paris Saint-Germain’s women’s team were hit with a three-defeat sanction by forfeit by French football authorities on Monday over a licensing issue involving summer signing Florianne Jourde.
Following a complaint from Fleury, who lost 4-0 to PSG in the top-flight Premiere Ligue last month, the French Football Federation (FFF) imposed a defeat by forfeit on the club and extended it to the two previous matches: a 2-0 win over Le Havre and a 1-0 win against Strasbourg.
By effectively losing nine points, PSG drops from second to fifth place in the rankings.
Why the fine?
The Parisians were penalized because Jourde, who joined from Canadian side AS Laval in July, did not have an International Transfer Certificate (ITC) issued by FIFA, which is required to obtain a license when professional players change clubs.
In a statement, the club described the decision as “totally disproportionate” and announced its plans to appeal.

PSG said it “acted in good faith and with full transparency, based on the information available to them,” and pointed out that the FFF had “self-validated” the transfer by licensing Florianne Jourde.
The 21-year-old Canadian was «sufficiently eligible» for these three matches and this «simple administrative situation», according to the club, «has now been resolved without any problems by FIFA».
PSG added that it was the victim of “a clear injustice” and “will apparently appeal this decision”.
