Qatar will qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup and will appear in the tournament for the second time


Qatar confirmed its participation in the 2026 FIFA World Cup for the second time on Tuesday after a 2-1 draw against the UAE at the Jassim Bin Hammad Stadium in Al Rayyan, Qatar.

The win confirmed Qatar’s place at the top of the fourth round qualifying group, which also included the UAE and Oman.

The 2026 tournament will be the second time Qatar has qualified for the World Cup, after hosting the 2022 edition.

It will be the seventh team from Asia to qualify for the World Cup, after Australia, Japan, Iran, South Korea and debutants Uzbekistan and Jordan.

After beating Oman, both sides played a virtual knockout. The UAE had a goal difference advantage and had to hold on for a draw, while Qatar needed to win to reach the next World Cup.
