Former Monza and Fiorentina coach Raffaele Palladino was appointed Atalanta’s new manager on Tuesday.
Palladino replaces Ivan Juric, who was sacked on Monday after a seven-match winless streak in Serie A, leaving Atalanta in 13th place. The dismissal came two days after a 3-0 defeat at home to PhD candidate Sassuolo.
The 41-year-old Palladino enjoyed success at Monza and Fiorentina but surprisingly left the latter after leading them to a sixth-place finish last season and a run to the Conference League semi-finals.
Atalanta said it has signed Palladino until next season.
Next week after the international break he will make his debut with defending champion Napoli.

After back-to-back defeats followed five straight draws, Atalanta are 11 points behind Serie A leaders Inter Milan and Roma.
Roma is coached by Gasperini, who left Atalanta after nine largely successful seasons in charge and was replaced by Jurić.
In the Champions League, Atalanta has recorded two wins, one draw and one defeat. Palladino’s second game in charge will be a visit to Eintracht Frankfurt in the Champions League.
It is the fourth coaching change in Serie A this season, after transfers from Juventus, Genoa and Fiorentina.
