«I think Tom came in once, which was the day for a match where the days are a bit lighter anyway, and I don’t think he understood football so well,» said Rooney on the Wayne Rooney Show podcast.
«But what he understands is, he is a hard worker, we know that.»
«Football is not NFL – NFL works three months a year. Players also need rest, so I think he is very unfair, the way he came out and that has shown that.»
Seven times Super Bowl champion Brady became a minority owner in Birmingham in August 2023.
«Listen, I respect Tom Brady enormously,» said Rooney.
«He is one of the best, if not the best athletes of all time and Birmingham looks like they get it now, what is good, and I think what they have done, the players have done out they needed to get out.»
