Ruben Amorim confirms Sesko ‘Ready to Play’ in season opener against Arsenal

Newly signed Manchester United striker Benjamin Sesko is ready to play, but it is too early to say if he will start when the club starts his Premier League campaign to Arsenal on Sunday, United Manager Ruben Amorim said.

Sesko van Slovenia came to United of RB Leipzig last weekend for a transfer costs of 76.5 million euros ($ 89 million) with 8.5 million in bonuses. United spent around 200 million pounds this summer after the end of the 15th last season.

«We didn’t have much time, but he is ready, he is physically ready, that is a big part in our competition. Then he is really smart … He is ready to play, we will see if he will start,» Amorim told reporters on Friday.

Amorim said that United, that last season, had its worst finish in the English top flight since 1973-74, the 2025-26 campaign will go on a return to European football.

«We cannot change everything in four weeks, but we are better. We train harder and are more willing to tackle the requirements of the game,» he said.

«We want to return to Europe. We have to be realistic with our fans. We will have to fight a lot because there are more teams together than we do. We have to concentrate the game at stake. We want to win against Arsenal.»

The manager said that defenders Lisandro Martinez and Noussair Mazraoui were out of the weekend, but Joshua Zirkzee and keeper Andre Onana had been restored and would be available against Arsenal.

«I learned a lot last season. I don’t have to concentrate on the future. That doesn’t matter and I don’t care. I have to live every day. Everything that is noise for our team, I take out of sight, so I just prepare my team for Arsenal,» Amorim added.
