The South Asian Football Federation (Saff) has announced the schedule for the Saff Championship under 17, which will take place from 15 to 27 September this year in Colombo, Sri Lanka.

The 10th edition of the tournament has divided seven countries into two groups, with India and Pakistan being signed in the same group.

Saff U-17 Championship groups:

  • Group A: Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka

  • Group B: India, Pakistan, Maldives, Bhutan

Teams in each group play each other once in a Round-Robin format, while the top two of each group are eligible for the semi-final.

Games after the group stage will all be eliminators with one leg, played with facilities of extra time and a penalty shootout in the case of a draw after regulatory time.

Host Sri Lanka plays the first match against Nepal and all tournament matches are played in the Racecourse International Stadium.

Group phase:

15 – 19:00 – Nepal vs Sri Lanka – Group A

16 – 3:00 pm – India versus Maldiven – Group B

16 – 19:00 – Pakistan vs Bhutan – Group B

18 – 19:00 – Bangladesh vs Nepal – Group A

19 – 3:00 PM – Pakistan versus Maldiven – Group B

19 – 7:30 PM – Bhutan vs India – Group B

21 – 19:00 – Bangladesh vs Sri Lanka – Group A

22 – 3 p.m. – India vs Pakistan – Group B

22 – 7:30 pm – Bhutan vs Maldives – Group B

Knockouts:

Semi-final 1– 25 September-15: 00 hours winner of group A vs second of group B

Semi-final 2-25 September 19.30 hrs winner of Group B vs Second of Group A

Final – 27 – 6:00 pm – Winner of semi -final 1 versus winner of semi -final 2

Defending champion India will open his campaign against the Maldives. The Blue Colts defeated Bangladesh in the previous edition in Bhutan, with Mohammed Kaif and Mohammed Arbash score in a 2-0 win in September last year.

India is also the most successful team in the tournament and wins the title six times.
