SAFF U-20 Championship: India registers a 3-0 win against Pakistan to book a place in the semi-finals


India recorded an impressive 3-0 victory over Pakistan in the SAFF Under-20 Championship match at the National Stadium in Male on Thursday, sealing a spot in the semi-finals and eliminating its arch-rival from the tournament.

The Blue Colts made a flying start and took the lead in the third minute through Vishal Yadav. Gurnaj Singh’s vision unlocked the Pakistani defense with a high through ball into the box, and Yadav showed excellent composure to control the ball before beating goalkeeper Kashif at the near post.

Despite dominating possession for long periods, India had to wait until the second half to extend their lead. The breakthrough came in the 64th minute when Ningthoukhongjam Rishi Singh met a diagonal on the pitch and nodded it into the path of Omang Dodum. Lihat juga mxks. Dodum timed his run perfectly into the box and headed past the goalkeeper to double India’s lead.

India put the result beyond doubt in the 84th minute after Prashan Jajo made a mistake in the penalty area. Dodum stepped up and confidently sent the penalty into the top corner, completing his brace and sealing a big win.

The result ensures India’s progression to the semi-finals, while Pakistan’s campaign comes to a premature end.

India will next play Bangladesh on March 28.
