Mohamed Salah will leave Liverpool at the end of the season, the attacker announced on Tuesday.
«Unfortunately the day has come. This is the first part of my farewell,» Salah said in a video on X. «I will leave Liverpool at the end of the season.»
Salah, 33, is third on Liverpool’s all-time top scorers list with 255 goals in 435 appearances, behind only Ian Rush and Roger Hunt.
The Egyptian, who joined the club in 2017, has won the Premier League twice, the Champions League, the FA Cup, Super Cup, Club World Cup and the League Cup.
«I wanted to start by saying that I could never have imagined how deeply this club, this city, these people would become a part of my life. Liverpool is not just a football club, it’s a passion, it’s a history, it’s a spirit,» Salah added.
«I can’t explain it in words to someone who is not part of this club. We celebrated the victory, we won the most important trophies and we fought together through the most difficult time of our lives.»
“I would like to thank everyone who has been part of this club during my time here, especially the teammates, past and present, and to the fans… I don’t have enough words: the support you have given me during the best time of my career and you stood by me in the most difficult of times, it is something I will never forget. And something I will always take with me.”
«Leaving is never easy. You gave me the best time of my life, I will always be one of you. This club will always be home for me and my family. Thank you for everything. Thanks to all of you, I will never walk alone,» he said.
Salah was instrumental in ending Liverpool’s 30-year top-flight drought as the club won the Premier League in 2019/20.
Last season he produced his second highest scoring season at the club as his 29 league goals lifted the Reds to another league crown, on the back of which he signed a lucrative new two-year contract.

His exit signs came back in November when an explosive interview put him on a collision course with Liverpool manager Arne Slot.
He accused the club of throwing him “under the bus” after he was benched for three games in a row and said he had no relationship with the Dutchman.
