Young forward Samu Aghehowa was in disbelief after missing the chance to play in his first World Cup with Spain due to a serious knee injury he suffered while playing for Porto.
Samu, 21, was injured during Porto’s 1-1 draw with Sporting Lisbon in the Portuguese league on Monday, on what he called «the unluckiest day» of his career. Porto said he suffered a torn ACL in his right leg.

«I suffered a serious injury. I still can’t believe it. I’m devastated and speechless,» Samu said in an Instagram post. «I will be out of action for a few months. It hurts me that I cannot help the team as I would like, fighting on the field. Now I am just a fan who supports us. Trusting in God’s plan, being strong and positive, that will ensure that I come back stronger than ever.»
