Santos fires coach and Neymar in tears after 6-0 loss against Vasco da Gama


Santos fired his coach, Cleber Xavier, after a 6-0 house loss on Sunday to Vasco da Gama in which Neymar left the field in tears after the game.

«The club thanks the coach for the services provided,» said Santos about Xavier, who only took over in April, «and wishes him happiness in the continuation of his career.»

The result left Santos-famous the club of Brazil Great Pele and now Neymar-op the 15th place in the 20-team Brazilian top flight, two points above the relegation zone.

Neymar was hit on the field by a member of the back room staff of Santos after a competition in which the Philippe Coutinho of Vasco scored twice.

The 33-year-old Neymar, the former Saint-Germain star of Barcelona and Paris, returned to his boys’ club in January after an overwhelming enchantment in Saudi Arabia and signed a contract extension until the end of the year in June.
