Saudi Super Cup: Al-Ahli gets in after Al-Hilal withdrew, with reference to fatigue of CWC campaign


Saudi Pro League side Al-Ahli confirmed on Tuesday that it will participate in the Saudi Super Cup 2025–26, to replace Al-Hilal, which withdrew as tiredness of the player after the club World Cup campaign.

Al-Hilal, which reached the knockout phase of the club World Cup and defeated Manchester City in the last 16 before he lost to Fluminense on July 4 in the quarterfinals, announced his decision on Monday, referring to the concerns of planning.

Al-Ahli, which ended fifth in the recent Saudi-Pro League season, said in a statement about X: “We received an official letter from the Saudi football federation to participate in the Saudi Super Cup for the 2025-2026 season, planned in Hong Kong of 19-23, based on the regulations of the Competition.

«After an extensive study of all aspects, we decided to agree to participate in the tournament in accordance with the goals and the preparation plan of the team for the new season,» the statement added.

The Saudi Super Cup precedes the competition campaign, which starts at the end of August.
