Brazil wing player Savinho signed a new contract with Manchester City on Friday and tied the Premier League weight until 2031, with an option to extend the deal by another 12 months.
The 21-year-old was a target for Tottenham during the transfer window, but traces were reportedly postponed by the valuation of £ 70 million ($ 94 million).
Although it was struggling to hold a regular starting spot in the side of Pep Guardiola, Savinho gave 13 assists and scored three goals during 48 performances last season – his first in English football.
«I am incredibly proud to be able to sign this new contract with the city,» Savinho said in a club statement.
«It is a very special feeling to know that Pep and the club have so confident in me. I feel that I am improving so much to do – I still have young and very hungry to keep learning. But I know that working with Pep and his staff will help me to continue to develop as a player.»
Savinho was covered 13 times by Brazil and made his breakthrough in European football in Girona, one of the portfolio of clubs of City Football Group, making it eligible for the Champions League at the end of the 2023-24 campaign.
He then moved to the Etihad in a transfer of £ 31 million.
«Savinho is still very young, but he has already shown that he has the qualities needed to become a really excellent player,» said City’s director of Football Hugo Viana.
