Mali reached the last eight without winning a match. The country drew three group matches and then needed penalties against Tunisia in the first knockout round.

Senegal are the second team in Africa and with ten goals scored in the tournament, they look like a strong candidate to advance to next week’s semi-finals.

Senegal entered the quarter-finals after beating Sudan 3-1 in the round of 16.
