Serie A 2025-26: Injury problems haunt Napoli as they lose to Torino

Injury-hit Napoli suffered a 1-0 defeat to Torino on Saturday, with Giovanni Simeone scoring the only goal of the match for the home side.

The reigning champion missed both Scott McTominay and Rasmus Hojlund through injury and struggled to find his attacking rhythm.

The result marked Napoli’s second league defeat of the season, leaving them level on 15 points with AS Roma at the top of the table, who lost 0–1 to Inter.

Simeone, on loan to Torino from Napoli, broke the deadlock after 32 minutes, pounced on a loose ball in the penalty area to create some space and put his finish into the net.

Napoli took control in the second half and launched a brutal offensive in search of an equalizer, which quickly turned into a siege around the Torino goal, but struggled to create clear chances.

Noa Lang thought he had saved a late equalizer for Napoli deep into injury time, but his effort was disallowed for offside.
