Serie A 2025-26: Juventus’ title hopes dashed by 1-1 draw against Lecce

Juventus’ Serie A title hopes were dealt a blow when they were held to a 1-1 draw at home by Saturday’s relegation battle against Lecce, with the hosts coming from behind but failing to win after Jonathan David saved a penalty.

Juventus remains fifth in the standings with 33 points, five points less than leader AC Milan, which has played one match less. Lecce are 16th with 17 points, five points above the relegation zone.

The home side dominated the first half and created a host of chances, but fell behind at half-time after Lameck Banda played a wayward pass to give Lecce the lead on the stroke of half-time.

Juventus leveled four minutes after the break through Weston McKennie, but David’s tame penalty was saved and the home side were unable to find a winner despite piling on the pressure for most of the game.
