Series A 2025-26: Pulisic Penalty Miss denies AC Milan Top Spot after 0-0 draw at Juventus

AC Milan’s Christian Pulisic missed a penalty and his side had to settle for a 0-0 draw away to Juventus on Sunday, so that the visitor denied a return to the top of the Serie A 2025-26 classification.

After Napoli and AS Roma, together with Inter Milan, all registered victories during the weekend, the pressure on Milan and Juventus to keep pace at the top, which led to a Cagey game where the fault of Pulisic turned out to be expensive.

Milan has 13 points, third in the rankings and two points behind leader Napoli and Roma, while Juventus is another point back in the fifth, behind Inter on target difference.

Massimiliano Allegri was back in Juventus as an opponent and took on the club where he had won five league titles in his eight seasons in Turin, but there was no happy return for the Milan manager.

The first half put little in the way of entertainment, but both parties managed to create scoring opportunities, whereby the host was abandoned by the wrestling striker Jonathan David.

The Canadian scored on his Juventus debut in the opening day victory over Parma, but has since had trouble impressing, and when Weston McKennie flashed on the cross of Francisco Conkeicao, David was unable to read the intentions of his teammate.

David then had the goal of his grace when he was set up by Pierre Kalulu in the box, but lost his foot at the crucial moment, while for Milan Santiago Gimenez his Serie A scored drought.

Gimenez went on a Mazy run in the area, but his finish failed to put keeper Michele di Gregorio into trouble, and after Strahinja Pavlovic had set a big cross, the Mexican sent his header wide from the target.

A corner shortly after the break, Juventus gave a gilded opportunity to take the lead, but Milan keeper Mike Maignan spread to keep the shot of Federico Gatti out of a point-white range.

Minutes later Milan got his golden chance when Lloyd Kelly bundled over Gimenez in the box, but Pulisic burned his penalty over the bar.

Allegri sent Rafael Leao with less than half an hour and the Portuguese winger tried a daring broken shot from half the line, which sailed over the bar.

In extra time, Leao was sent by the Defense-split pass of Luka Modric, but his shot was too close to the keeper and the unbeaten Juventus survived to earn his fifth consecutive draw in all competitions.
