Series A 2025-26: Vardy makes a debut in Cremonese Goalless Draw; Genoa saves one point at Como


Jamie Vardy could not rust a goal in his Serie A debut and prevent the first scoreless draw between Cremonese and Verona on Monday on Monday.

Vardy, one of the most productive scorers in England in the past decade, signed for Cremonese on Transfer Deadline Day and came from the bank to replace Federico Bonazzoli in the 58th minute.

But there was no fairytale start for the 38-year-old Premier League and FA Cup winner. Instead, most chances were on the other side when Verona penetrated a first victory at home since 23 February.

Giovane missed a series of opportunities and Gift Orban was also loose in a competition that nevertheless ended the winning start of Cremonese until the season.

The point moved Cremonese to third place. Verona became 16th with two points from three games.

Later on Monday, Genoa scored in a stop time to take a point in a 1-1 draw at Como.

Nico Paz was called the Serie A Rising Star of the Month for August, and the 21-year-old Argentinian showed why after 13 minutes when he led Como with a nice attack from outside the box.

Como-Coach, Cesc Fabregas, was sure to keep his 100% record against his old Arsenal teammate Patrick Vieira, because they both moved into the Dugout, but Caleb Ekuban hit home after a target hat that clambed two minutes in the stopping time to give Genoa a multilateral share of the point.

Como’s Jacobo Ramon was broadcast three minutes earlier. The point let Genoa Win Win after three games, but the result lifted it out of the normal place.
