Sevilla hit by partial stadium closure after derby incidents

Sevilla was imposed a three-match partial stadium closure on Wednesday after some supporters threw objects onto the pitch during the 2-0 derby defeat to Real Betis on Sunday.

The match was halted for 15 minutes after home fans at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan threw objects, including plastic bottles and lighters, at players in the final stages of the La Liga match.

The Spanish Football Federation’s disciplinary committee fined Sevilla 45,000 euros ($52,000) and ordered the closure of three matches for what it deemed «very serious violations» of the disciplinary code.

Sevilla’s three home games in La Liga are against Real Oviedo, Levante and Celta Vigo.

Sevilla are 13th, four points above the relegation zone after the defeat to city rivals.
