Coach Thomas Frank hopes that Tottenham Hotspur -fans Mathys Tel will give a «really big cheer» in the Premier League campaign opener on Saturday after the attacker Racial Abuse on social media for missing a penalty in the UEFA Super Cup loss for Paris St. Germain.
Frank said that no real Spurs fan would have done that to the 20-year-old.
«I find it terrible what happened to Mathys … There is no real Tottenham supporter who will ever do that,» Frank told reporters on Friday prior to their home match against Burnley.
«The real Tottenham supporters that we will see in the stadium tomorrow, they will support him, and I expect that they will perform together in difficult times, and I expect the fans to give him a real, very, very big cheers tomorrow.»
Frank said he wanted to concentrate on the game before the game, with the Europa League winners hopeful in a winning start after the end of the 17th in the Premier League last season.
Yves Bissouma, who was left out of the team on Wednesday because he is several times late, will be in the team for the Burnley match, added the Danish coach.
«You deal with these situations internally. It is being treated and I am looking forward to it,» he said.
Frank said that Spurs had no new injuries that go into the weekend, and added that defender Destiny Udogie, who missed the Super Cup because of a knee injury, would not be available.
«Destiny is progressing, but it’s too early for him to be involved with the team,» he said.
