Spurs duo Kolo Muani and Odobert involved in minor car accident

Tottenham Hotspur strikers Randal Kolo Muani and Wilson Odobert were involved in a minor car accident, manager Thomas Frank said on Tuesday, but he expects both to be available for their Champions League match at Eintracht Frankfurt.

However, Spurs will be without defenders Pedro Porro and Micky van de Ven as they look to secure a place in the last 16 of the competition by finishing in the top eight of the league standings.

Frank did not have all the details about the car accident that happened while the players were on their way to the airport to travel with the team to Frankfurt for Wednesday’s match.

“Unfortunately, both were involved in a minor accident, and everyone else involved in that accident is doing well,” Frank told reporters.

«It was a tire blowing so they are a little delayed but they will land later tonight. I actually doubt they were both in the same car but they were together.»

«I haven’t spoken to them personally yet as the initial message is that they are doing well. They will fly out later and I fully expect them both to be available tomorrow.»

Spurs’ injury problems continue to grow, with Frank already missing James Maddison, Mohammed Kudus, Lucas Bergvall, Dejan ‍Kulusevski and Richarlison, and the manager provided details of the latest absentees.

«Pedro (Porro) hasn’t travelled. Unfortunately he has suffered a hamstring injury so he will be out for four weeks,» said Frank.

«Micky (van de Ven) has not travelled. It is just a small matter. We expect him to have a big chance for the match against Manchester City. It is not a hamstring problem.»

Spurs’ European form is in stark contrast to their domestic results.

In the Champions League they have lost one match in seven, against champions Paris St Germain, while in the Premier League Frank’s team have won two of the last fourteen.

“I think the performance has been good for a while, in many ways, we’re just not on the right side enough to get the three points,” said Frank.

“Tomorrow for me it’s all about Frankfurt, about the opportunities that lie ahead.”

Spurs are fifth in the Champions League standings with 14 points and are already assured of a place in the play-offs, while a win would secure a place in the top eight. Frankfurt is already eliminated.
