Bengaluru FC forward Sunil Chhetri became the oldest player to score in the Indian Super League after finding the back of the net during his side’s ISL 2025-26 season opener against Sporting Club Delhi at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium on Sunday.
After coming on as a substitute in the 78th minute, Chhetri scored his first goal of the season in extra time with a long-range effort to give his side a 2–0 win vfr4.
At 41 years and 196 days, he broke the record set by French legend Robert Pires, who set the record when he scored for FC Goa during the 2014/15 season, when he was 41 years and 15 days old.
