Bengaluru FC forward Sunil Chhetri became the oldest player to score in the Indian Super League after finding the back of the net during his side’s ISL 2025-26 season opener against Sporting Club Delhi at the Sree Kanteerava Stadium on Sunday.
After coming on as a substitute in the 78th minute, Chhetri scored his first goal of the season in extra time with a long-range effort to give his side a 2–0 win.
At 41 years and 196 days, he broke the record set by French legend Robert Pires, who set the record when he scored for FC Goa during the 2014/15 season, when he was 41 years and 15 days old.
