Sunil Chhetri says that the current situation of Indian football is ‘very worrying’ after ILL has been won

India captain and record goal scorer Sunil Chhetri said that the current situation of Indian football was very worrying, but it remains hopeful that things would get better.

«The current situation in which Indian football is located is very worrying. I have received a flurry of texts, employees, physios, masseurs – not only from my club, but also from other clubs. Everyone in the Indian football ecosystem is delivered, injured, scared about the uncertainty with which we are uncertainty,» Chhetri wrote on social media.

The post comes at a time when the Indian Super League (ISL), the most important division of men’s football in the country, is put on hold. After Football Sports Development Limited (FSDL), the body that runs the ISL, did not reach an agreement with the All India Football Federation (AIFF), the competition was officially ‘on hold’ earlier this month.

«I know that the think tank and all those involved in running the sport are working to use the football season, and I hope that there is a solid solution rather than later,» Chhetri added.

Chhetri, who played the inaugural season of the ISL in Mumbai City, has been part of Bengaluru FC since 2013 more than two Stints and won seven titles with the club, including two I-League trophies and one ISL title.

«I may not have all the answers, but my message to all who are involved in Indian football – and more importantly those whose living depends on it, the players, staff, kitmen, masseurs, medical teams, production teams, operational personnel personnel remain calm,» Chhetri added.

«We will ride this storm together. Stay together and pay attention. Keep training and getting better. Football has to resume quickly. That will do it.»
