Supreme Court gives AIFF-FSDL instructed to resolve the future of MRA-ISL; Next hearing on August 28

On Friday, the Supreme Court has dedicated the All India Football Federation (AIFF) and the Football Sports Development Limited (FSDL) to sit together and find a solution, preferably within a week.

A special bank, consisting of justice Sri Narasimha and Justice Joypmalya Bagchi, have set the date for the next hearing on August 28.

The AIFF and FSDL have remained on an impasse with regard to the Master Rights Agreement (MRA) – the administrative backbone of the Indian Super League (ISL), currently the top flight of Penal of men’s football.

The current MRA ends in December 2025 and a lack of agreement on a future MRA-Tussen Aiff and FSDL-has led to the 2025-26 season of ISL on 11 July.

As a result, 11 of the 13 ISL clubs look at ‘catastrophic consequences’ if the competition does not take place, where several of them temporarily suspend operations.

The decision of the APEX Court comes as a U-turn from his earlier directive in April, when it had asked the Federation to abandon further negotiations with FSDL until the (the Supreme Court) has decided the AIFF constitution.
