Arriving in Maine brings a sigh of relief. Then you start walking and becomes a complete relief. My feet are hugged by a soft land and massaged by a carpet of pine needles. Relief permeates all my senses while on the way through the beautiful coniferous forests and breathe fresh and clean pine smell.
The climbs will always be a challenge for me and the descents will be disgusting, but Maine’s ups and downs are more friendly than those of New Hampshire.
The shelters are spaced at manageable intervals for my exhausted body to rest. And insects have disappeared with the coldest temperatures. The shelters are no longer full of people, and there is no disease in sight. The spirits of all are high because we are all planning our summit date and flavoring every day of walking through the beautiful Maine.
But Maine’s most spectacular sections are lakes, ponds, rivers, streams and streams. There are discussions every night in shelters about which body of water could provide the next zero to stretch the end of our walks a little more!
Maine is the first state that has made us want to reduce speed and savor. We are grateful. I will appreciate every day for the rest of my life. The path provides. He provided me with an attitude of gratitude for everyday things: coffee in a cup, sleep in a bed, hugs of family and friends, work on my computer, books on the couch and at home with Bill in Avemar.
A special thanks to all those who have proposed to write on the walk! I enjoyed many breakfasts in the city for you! Thanks to all those who commented on my publications! Your breath is invaluable! Do not hesitate to give me the tip at any time! The end is close!
