The 2026-2027 Premier League season starts on August 22 and runs until May 30, 2027. The season ends a week before the Champions League final, the league announced on Friday.
The campaign includes 33 weekends and five midweek rounds. It will start a week later than normal to allow for recovery time after the extended World Cup, which ends on July 19.
This adjustment also creates a period of 89 days between the end of the 2025-2026 season and the start of the new season.

“With an increasingly busy global football calendar, player welfare remains a priority for the Premier League,” the league said in a statement.
«There will be no two rounds of matches within 60 hours over the Christmas and New Year period. This is in line with commitments to clubs to address the busy Christmas and New Year schedule within the extended international calendar,» the league added.
The normal match schedule will return next season on Boxing Day. However, this season only one match will take place on Boxing Day due to scheduling issues.
