The American rapper and producer Snoop Dogg has become an investor at Welsh Side Swansea City, said the Championship Club on Thursday, where the songwriter joined Croatian midfielder Luka Modric as co-owner.
The news came just a few days after Snoop Dogg helped launch the new home jersey from Swansea, who had fueled speculation that the hip -hop artist would have an even greater involvement with the club.
«My love for football is known, but it feels especially for me that I make my switch to club ownership with Swansea City,» said Snoop Dogg on the club’s website.
«The story of the club and the area really struck me. This is a proud city and club in the working class. An underdog that bites back, just like me.»
In April Modric joined American investors Andy Coleman, Brett Cravatt, Nigel Morris and Jason Cohen in the structure of Swansea, and the club will hope that the newest investor can help stimulate their worldwide status.
Snoop Dogg may have arrived on stage with the question: ‘Who am I? (What is my name?) “But since then the 53-year-old has become one of the biggest names in the music world.
«Snoop’s colossal global fan base and the public will certainly help us to do that,» said Swansea’s ownership group.
“During this process he made it clear to us how enthusiastic he is in the prospect of becoming a member of the club.

«Snoop openly shared his love for football and his desire to be involved in the game, and we expect his involvement to support us to place a team that is as competitive as possible.»
Snoop Dogg and Modric come to be a member of the club because it seems to be due to financial problems after it has posted a loss before taxes of 15.2 million pounds ($ 20.39 million) in the last financial year.
Swansea will be accompanied next season in the second level of English football by colleague Welsh Club Wrexham, who have emerged from the crazy people of the National League under the ownership of Ryan Reynolds and Rob Mcelhenney.
Wrexham has risen to fame among his Hollywood owners, and the welcome to Wrexham TV series has brought it to a global audience, and perhaps Swansea could consider making his own documentary.
