The Art of the Hero: Week one on the Colorado path with a $ 750 budget

I finished my last story by configuring my store at 11 pm and trying to sleep during my first night on the path, while waiting to be attacked by the couple with bright eyes that had made me a leader.

Fortunately, I survived and woke up in the morning to the sound of the gears that changed when two packers passed my tent. It was only 3 feet from the path, after all.

After packing and walking to Mile 7 for the third time, I arrived at the bank that was originally planning camping, and the nearby floor was a bit inclined, so everything really worked for the best. Then, I found sunglasses hanging on a tree, which is one of the things I had forgotten! The path really provides.

The following days were blurred to meet many people, none of whom was at my pace. This path is full, and I was glad to see that sometimes there were more women than men. The Colorado path is for girls.

I walked through forests, more times with an incredible view. It rained a little almost every day, but it was generally short -lived and my team never remained wet. I was lucky to be in my store for most storms.

On my fifth day, I saw a Farout comment in Kenosha Pass that would have magic of trails. I pushed a relentless 16 miles before 3 pm, only in the last hour to realize that the path of the path was even further. I sat down, I took my phone mode phone and contemplated the decisions of my life, created. I finally arrived at the parking lot to discover that there was a magic of different paths in progress! Thanks to Rocket and his wife for organizing and providing a very necessary moral impulse.

This week, I also tried the first taste of going uphill to a high point, while the sky seems to hit you. I stopped, I used my Garmin Inreach to take a weather forecast to increase my trust, and I went for it when I could see the blue sky patch growing. I was rewarded by my courage with an epic camp just above Brekenridge. There, I met some charming hikers for the weekend. They were sharing a Crème Brûlée and deliring mountain house about it. The next thing you know is that one of them is to give me a new package to try. Trace magic twice in a week! Thanks to Lyons’s couple for being so kind!

The hero art

Finally, on the 7th, I arrived in my first city, Breckenridge. I got up and walked around 6:30 am because I had things to do. The heroes are not only completed. A hero is when he enters and salts from the city in one day and you do all the tasks of your city.

The Art of the Hero: Week one on the Colorado path with a $ 750 budget

I started losing the bus for free for two minutes. Feeling emboldened, I took off my thumb and a local business owned me quickly. She kindly left me at the Recreation Center for my first task: shower to stop smelling like a dead animal. For $ 8, it had unlimited hot water and a very clean wardrobe. I have my own fast drying towel, so I saved some money by not having to rent one from the reception.

From there, dressed in my elegant rain team, I took the bus for free to the laundry and washed everything. They even had an exit, so I loaded my battery bank and Garmin Inreach. I met some hikers who went to Brunch on the street and felt a pang of jealousy, but the Brunch in a tourist city was not in the budget.

I returned to the bus for free and went to the city market to replenish and buy a gift. My budget allows a $ 15 gift in most cities. This refueling was complicated because he was not only buying food so that Lroadville, but also sent a box to mile 408 in Lake Campground molas. I chose to send a box in case I had a short time last week, to avoid stopping in Silverton. Shipping is expensive and getting hooked to the city is free, so it was definitely a luxury.

I ended with tuna excrement classics, protein bars, tortilla, oatmeal, ramen and instant potatoes. For my gift, I bought a fermented mass baguette of one day ($ 1), an avocado ($ 1.25) and a goua cheese package ($ 1.49 after cutting the digital coupon of my Kroger account). This combination was better than any restaurant could have served! I also hooked a free cardboard box from the city market to send my refueling to Molas Lake Campground. Definitely a victory, because I think the UPS store charges $ 7 or more for a box.

I still needed to load my electronics and find a cord for my right shoe, since my fast lace had failed two days before. My friend Snapchat took out a cord from the hiker box in her shelter and gave it to me. My last stop was the Brekenridge visitors center, where I merided and loaded until they closed.

Around 4:30 pm, it was time to return to the road to complete my hero. Back on the bus I went and they dropped me from the path. Later I spent a lot of time going up to each earth patch and evaluating his worth, unfortunately while walking uphill. Too inclined, too many dead trees, bad vibrations. At about 3.1 miles outside the city and a lot of coercion, I finally found a good place. What a way to finish my first week!
